Given the growing nature of the sport and recreation industry, my
philosophy for what it takes to find a full-time job and succeed in a satisfying
career in the field is as follows: An internship is where it all starts. This
can give you an idea of what you want to do and also possibly what you do not.
Another key factor is networking. It is important to get out to job fairs and
conferences to introduce you to people that are already established. Once you
get to know someone they may be able to help you find a job that you are looking
for. Being confident and be able to sell yourself to an employer is another
thing that is key. If you are able to sell yourself in an interview, you will be
able to get the job you want and be successful at it. As long as you’re
passionate about it and enjoy your job you should succeed with hard work and
persistence.
